Last week we teased the 2015 Scat Pack, and this week, the new Charger and Challenger are set to be unveiled at the 2014 New York International Auto Show. When other brands are setting up for a big reveal, they like to keep leaking teaser photos or maybe some b-roll footage. Some brands can’t stand to wait for the actual show, so they just do a full press-release complete with a photo exposé. Dodge would rather just wait and make your choices so much easier in the meantime.
The new cars will be revealed on Thursday, but yesterday, the Dodge Double-Up Deal was announced. Starting on April 17, a rare one-year lease will be available for 2014 editions of the Charger and Challenger. After the year is up, lessees will be able to exchange the vehicle for a three-year lease on a 2015 model. The monthly payment will be the same, and there will be no additional cost at the time of the exchange. Even better, if you drive the 2014 Challenger for a year and decide that you would rather exchange for the 2015 Charger, you may do so. The reverse is also true. Finally, drivers who are so in love with the Dodge of their choice that they want to buy the 2015 model will get $1,000 off the purchase price.
Listening to the radio or watching TV, you probably feel saturated with supposedly great car deals and offers that “you’ll never see the likes of again.” Take it from us: This really is the most unbelievable special any brand has ever offered. It’s one of the very rare occasions where hyperbole is deserved. The rarity of a one-year lease is notable enough. It’s something that is convenient for customers while being somewhat inconvenient to the dealers who presumably would see all these one-year-old models rushing back into their inventory come next year. Dodge has found a workaround for that, though. Enterprise, a rental car agency, has agreed to purchase any 2014 Chargers and Challengers that are turned in for the Double-Up Deal. Everybody wins.
We can’t wait to see the 2015 models now that this deal has been announced. For an offer as good as this one, the new Charger and Challenger will have to be even better.
