We’re back from a brief hiatus, and we want to make sure you’re up to speed on the latest news from our patron brands. Let’s jump right into it.
An Interview with the First Renegade Owner
It’s been a few weeks since the Jeep Renegade became available in the US, and already Jeep’s smallest offering is making big waves. This vehicle has thrived on its versatility, its practicality, and its authenticity, facets which are easily recognized by long-time Jeep lovers. One such Jeep enthusiast was lucky enough to be the first Renegade owner in the States. The Jeep Blog recently caught up with her to find out how much she’s enjoyed her early adoption. You can read the interview here.
The Most Powerful Viper Ever is Available Now
Dodge recently announced it would be taking orders for the 2016 Viper ACR, and now official pricing has been announced. After fees, the track-saavy snake will run you a cool $121,990. For comparison, the standard Viper goes for just under $90,000. An extra thirty grand will nab you five additional horsepower, an upgraded suspension, and a host of aerodynamic accoutrements like that wicked rear wing. They’re taking orders for these now, so don’t wait. Autoblog has the full text of the press release.
Ram Trucks Set New World Record
Last month, as part of the celebration surrounding the Academy of Country Music Awards, Ram owners from across the US flocked to Dallas. Trucks from every generation lined up to set a Guinness World Record for the longest parade of pickup trucks. A total of 451 Ram Trucks were in attendance, breaking the previous record of 438. You can read more about the festivities on the Ram Zone blog.
Putting the Cat in Hellcat
Hellcat was just a name at one point, but given Dodge’s history, how could they resist turning it into a full fledged mascot. In the classic era there was the elephant, the Super Bee, and the Demon. Now the Viper has been slithering around unaccompanied for a while. Someone at Dodge – a very smart someone – decided that the Hellcat was too good an opportunity to pass up. They didn’t land on the fender badge right away, though. Click through to Car and Driver to see some of the concepts and doodles that led to our new favorite feline.
Finally, there are some photos that need little in the way of captions. This image from Bridge Creek, OK, shows the remnants of an auto shop (it’s unclear whether this was a dealership or a separate business). The tornado that blew through this week left nothing standing. Nothing except this lone lift and a nearly-unscathed Challenger Hellcat on top of it. Mother Nature must know you don’t mess with Dodge.
