Ever since Memorial Day, we’ve been thinking about our heroes. There were many honored on Monday, men and women who served in the armed forces and did not come home, whom we have kept in our thoughts throughout the week. By remembering their sacrifice, we can do our part and give them the tribute they deserve.
There are also heroes who still walk among us, though. Many more are still committed to their duty, whether they’re shipping off on another tour, serving in the National Guard, or reintegrating themselves into our communities. It’s important to realize that even our heroes need a helping hand from time to time.
North Carolina is home to five military bases and more than 800,000 veterans. More than a third of the population of our state has either served or is family to someone who has. The troops need our help as much as we need theirs. They need continued education and re-training. They need assistance with financial hardships. They need treatment and care for physical and mental issues. Too often we take for granted the scars that our soldiers return with and return to.
That’s why Leith Cars is joining with the North Carolina Automobile Dealers Association Charitable Foundation for the Drive for Troops campaign. Between now and Labor Day, we will be making a donation for every new and used vehicle sold. All of the funds raised this summer will go toward several of the most prominent military support groups in our state, including Operation Homefront, Fisher House, the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, Hiring our Heroes, and the Patriot Scholarships.
We owe it to ourselves to do as much as we can for our heroes, so we encourage you to visit any Leith dealership this summer and support our troops. For more information on Drive for Troops, or to make a direct contribution, please visit the official website.
